New Year, New Festivals!

A new year, a new president, and lots of new content coming down the stream, from festivals across the country and the globe.

Due to the uniquely problematic nature of these times, most festivals have gone virtual, which enables us here at Ride the Omnibus to cover loads of festivals this year. Both due to disability and a lack of time and funds, attending the massive number of festivals we will be this season would be a physical impossibility in more normal times. The move to take these festivals online not only makes them more financially viable for the viewing public, but broadens access for all, including those with disabilities.

We’re starting our festival programming this year with Sundance Film Festival, starting January 28th and running through February 3rd. We’ll be sharing lists of our favorites from the festival here on the blog, as well as on Twitter and Letterboxd, so look out for those posts!

Next, we’ll be covering the 50th International Film Festival of Rotterdam, which happens from February 1st through February 7th. In celebration of that festival we will again share our favorites, but we will also have exclusive interviews with filmmakers, including a few bilingual interviews, conducted in Spanish/English and French/English!

After the coverage of these two major festivals, we’ll be spending time at a few genre-specific festivals, the horror-focused Final Girls Film Festival of Berlin, Nevermore, and the Boston Sci-Fi Film Festival. You can look for more exclusive content coming from those festivals and their panelists this year.

If you want to look ahead even further, you can look for our coverage of South by Southwest (SXSW), and various film offerings and creator interviews in March. It’s a great time to board the Omnibus - we’ve got places to go and people to see!
